Ensuring Success: Conesco chooses IBM servers with multi-core Intel Xeon processors to consolidate its data center and reduce costs
sponsored by CompuCom and IBM

Conseco helps protect thousands of families against major unplanned expenses through health and life insurance policies, and offers annuities to help people plan for retirement. The company, which includes such familiar names as Bankers Life and Casualty and Colonial Penn Life Insurance, grew rapidly for several years through acquisitions.

As each new addition took place, IT equipment from the acquired firm's previous location was moved to the main Conseco data center in Carmel, Indiana. The Conseco IT team converted several of its physical servers to virtual servers running on VMware ESX hosts in order to transfer the virtual machines to Carmel electronically.

When Conseco IT management needed to consolidate their hundreds of different servers into a more streamlined hardware and software environment, they chose the IBM 3850 M2 server and the Intel® Xeon® processor 7300 series with four cores per processor. Read this paper and find out why.
